Indian Tenant (www.indiantenant.com) is operated by Indian Tenant ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our platform, in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you register.
- Profile Information: Profile photo, address, city, locality, and PIN code.
- Property Information: Details, photos, and location data of properties you list.
- Payment & KYC Information: Transaction IDs and payment status processed through Razorpay. KYC documents (PAN, Aadhaar, bank account details) where required by law or our payment gateway. We do not store card numbers, CVV, or net-banking credentials — these are handled directly by Razorpay under PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance.
- Communication Data: Messages, enquiries, and support requests you send us.
- Usage Data: Pages visited, search queries, property views, click paths, and interaction logs.
- Device & Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, screen resolution, referrer URL, and cookie identifiers.
- Location Data: City/locality you select during search; approximate location if you grant browser permission for map features.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To display property listings and enable search and map features.
- To process subscription payments via Razorpay and credit view credits to your account.
- To send OTP verification, account notifications, booking alerts, and service-related communications via email, SMS, and WhatsApp.
- To send promotional and marketing communications (you may opt out at any time).
- To track property view credits and subscription validity under your plan.
- To conduct KYC verification as required under applicable law or by our payment partner.
- To improve platform features, personalise content, and conduct analytics.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations including RBI guidelines, PMLA 2002, and court orders.
3. Payment Data & Razorpay
All payment transactions on this platform are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited ("Razorpay"), a licensed Payment Aggregator regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. When you make a payment:
- You will be redirected to or interact with Razorpay's checkout, which is subject to Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
- Razorpay may collect your name, email, phone, billing address, payment instrument details, and device/IP information independently.
- We receive confirmation of payment status, Razorpay Order ID, and Payment ID, which we store for reconciliation.
- Transaction records are shared with and retained by Razorpay, their banking partners, card networks (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, etc.), and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) as required for settlement and regulatory compliance.
- We and Razorpay may share transaction data with the Reserve Bank of India or other government/regulatory authorities as required by law.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Razorpay: For payment processing, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance. Subject to Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
- Banks & Financial Institutions: For settlement of transactions, chargeback investigation, and fraud disputes.
- Card Networks & NPCI: As required for processing card and UPI transactions.
- Email/SMS Service Providers: To send transactional and marketing communications.
- Analytics Providers: For platform usage analytics (anonymised or pseudonymised where possible).
- Law Enforcement & Regulators: When required by applicable law, court order, or regulatory direction.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

- Essential Cookies: Required for login session management and CSRF protection. Cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

6. Marketing & Communication Consent
By registering on our platform, you consent to receiving transactional messages, OTPs, and service notifications. You also consent to receiving marketing and promotional communications via email, SMS, and WhatsApp. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time by:
- Clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Emailing us at indiantenant@gmail.com with subject "Unsubscribe".
Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect transactional/OTP communications necessary to deliver your services. By providing your mobile number, you consent to receiving messages that may override DND (Do Not Disturb) registrations under TRAI regulations, as permitted for service and transactional messages.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- Bcrypt-hashed passwords (never stored in plaintext).
- Prepared SQL statements to prevent SQL injection.
- CSRF tokens for form protection.
- MIME-verified file uploads with automated image processing.
- Access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only.
Payment data is handled exclusively by Razorpay, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure; we strive to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
- Transaction Records: Retained for a minimum of 10 years from the date of transaction as required under applicable laws and RBI/Razorpay payment gateway guidelines.
- Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active, plus a period of up to 3 years after deletion for legal compliance purposes.
- Usage Logs: Retained for up to 12 months for security monitoring and analytics.
You may request deletion of your account by emailing indiantenant@gmail.com. Note that transaction records required by law cannot be deleted upon request.
9. Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data via your dashboard or by contacting us.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
- Opt-Out: Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Grievance: File a complaint with our Grievance Officer if you believe your data rights have been violated.
10. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites (including Razorpay checkout, Google Maps, and social media platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their respective privacy policies before providing any personal information.
11. Children's Privacy
Indian Tenant is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will delete the account promptly.
12. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your data may be processed or stored by our service providers (including cloud hosting providers and Razorpay) in data centres located outside India. Such transfers are governed by appropriate data protection agreements consistent with applicable Indian law.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We will notify registered users of material changes via email where practicable.
